DOH

So, late last evening, a real ‘senior moment’. Composing a reply to a comment on one of my posts and wanted to reference a couple of things. Details are all stored in a spreadsheet, so open Excel and ……. Earlier in the day I’d installed and run some new housekeeping software which had cleaned the list of recently used files. Damn, but I know where it is, I’m sure I know where it is ……. Can I find it? Can I heck! Thinks – Shit! Have I accidentally deleted it? Too late to do much now, I’ll look again in the morning…….. Morning comes. I’ll use the ‘search’ thing – that should do the trick! Like hell it does! Cortana is about as much use as a one legged man at an ass kicking party! It will only look in places like ‘My Documents’, the idea that I might want to look in any folder I may have created has apparently escaped the all encompassing wisdom of Microsoft and a quick look on the ‘net confirms that it/he/she is a totally useless tool. Look for things to recover deleted files – find a few tips but oh, oh! Can possibly recover from magnetic hard drives but not from SSD. And what have I got? SSD! Found a (luckily free) download that might look for it and, if nothing else, confirm that I had deleted it but no! Praise the Lord and send the ammunition! It found it! And where was it? In my folder C:/Thrixxxbackup/Links. How the fuck did I manage not to look there? Pepper thinks I should close the computer and get some rest. She may well be right!
